More Walking in Brussels

For many Americans a visit to Brussels is usually a one-or two-day stay based on a precisely scheduled "Deluxe Motorcoach Tour". But that's no way to enjoy Brussels. The city is just too rich, to varied, and in many ways too subtle to be experienced from inside a chrome and glass capsule. We walked, taking plenty of time, often wandering at will through the streets and around interesting corners.

At left is the facade of the Royal Palace of Justice; at right is a view from a nearby promontory.

These pictures were taken in St. Boniface Church. The vaulted nave is at left, a lovely realization of a saint at center and a stained glass window that simply refused to be reduced to a digital image.
The side aisles of the nave included the 16 Stations of the Cross, each represented by wood carvings in amazing detail.

The high altar was beautiful but a maddeningly difficult photo subject

We couldn't stop taking pictures of the Grand'Place, so here's one more!

This beautiful  statue of the virgin in St. Boniface is perhaps not great art but it certainly is striking..
