You can see from the pictures on these pages why we love Brussels. Much of the beautiful architecture has been preserved and it's a great city for walking. At left is a close-up of the spire of a building taken from a restaurant on the top floor of the Museum of Musical Instruments. (We didn't actually eat there - too upscale for us - but the view was nice.) At right is a building near the museum. We loved the distinctive architecture. |

| We found this charming. It's a doorway to an ordinary shop near the train station. Back in the US it would be a functional frame of metal and glass. | Belgium has many impressive war memorials. The Belgians are rightly honored for their military prowess despite the unfortunate fact that the Belgian army has never won a war in modern times. | Still another example of the wonderful architecture to be seen in the Grand'Place. | ||||||||

| This is a harpsichord by Ivan van Halles a master of the craft. We just happened upon it in the Museum of Musical Instruments. If you click the photo and look closely, you can see that the inside is painted with exquisite pictures of flowers. | **We interrupt this vacation for a teleconference with the company that provides these vacations!*** | The War memorial shown in the previous row was at the top of a cliff. | Our hotel was in an area by the embassies and, apparently, things get exciting on occasion. These are barbed wire crowd-control barriers. | We think this may be one of Ron's ancestors.
