Belgium and Luxembourg

Belgium isn't at the top of the priority list for most American visitors to Europe but perhaps it should be. Regina had been there a few times on business and we'd taken a short side-trip there in late 2001. So, we knew that there was a lot to see within a very small radius and more time spent there would be well rewarded. We weren't disappointed. Even after 6 nights in Brussels and one night in Bruges -- with a scenic day-trip to Luxembourg -- there was never a dull moment. Actually, we hope to come back again.
Ron took this shot of the Grand'Place at night. In the larger view the crescent moon is visible. Us on the Grand'Place in Brussels - after four centuries, still THE spot in Brussels to eat, shop, see and be seen.
A street scene in Luxembourg. Sidewalk cafes were common, good and costly.
A beer shop in Bruges with hundreds on display. We wonder why there are comparatively so few kinds of beer in the US.

The view from our room at the Marriott, our first hotel in Brussels. The stock exchange (La Bourse) is at right.
Here is the link to Regina's review of the hotel.

Daytime detail of the facade of one of the buildings on the Grand'Place. The same building is shown at night above.
